Is dispersed dye as hard to get a hold of as it sounds? n expensive ?
I have dark green valances and heard if you are going for a much darker color you can use dispersed dye. I am going for a dark dark blue. think it will work? also, is it really rare and expensive ? worth it ? and sounds dumb but could you maybe use a similar method to pulling color from hair? or no cause bleach and poly a no no ?
well normally rit would be it but i have found out that polyester is an exception to this and is not really dyeable so this dispersed dye or whatever is actually translucent but you can only get it straight from the manufacturers.
Most curtains can be dyed successfully, but it does depend on the type of fabric that they’re made with. I don’t know where you got the term ‘dispersed dye’. When I dye things, I get a product called Rit dye and it’s available in most grocery and drug stores. It’s not very expensive (about $2 a package) and it works really well. There’s even a toll-free help number on the package.
It’s really easy to dye. One tip I can give you is to protect your hands from the dye, wear good rubber gloves or 2 pairs of latex gloves. The results are worth it. After you’ve successfully dyed one thing, you’ll probably start looking around for other things to dye.
