yes, it is a book.
by s. e. hinton.

The Outsiders is an amazing and magical book, I really wish you would read it. There are spoilers below.

Anyways, the reason Ponyboy can’t live in the country is because he is still underage, and has to live with his brothers. They obviously don’t have enough money to afford a new home, and they wouldn’t want to leave their gang.

Dally Winston basically wants Johnny to be happy, because he is the only person in the world that he really cares for. In the end, it does come true (kind of) since Johnny never left his town in his entire life, and when he went to the country to run away, he actually enjoyed the time there. Then again, he dies in the end, and he says that he doesn’t want to die, that 16 years is too little of a life to live. However, at the end, when he writes to Ponyboy, he explains that he’s glad that he saved the children from the burning church because they have more of a life to live.

Cherry Valance wants to live a life that doesn’t involve being judged by how much money one has or doesn’t have. Although she is a Soc (meaning she is richer than most of the other kids in town), she would rather not be rich, and not be judged as being a snobby rich kid.

I wrote down as much as I could. Hope it helped!

(Also, aside from reading the book, I recommend watching the movie, too. It’s not as good as the book, of course, but it’s still incredible.)
