Alison Krauss & Union Station – Live

$8.62

This two-CD, 25-song set, recorded in Louisville on two nights in the spring of 2002, finds bluegrass’s most celebrated crossover band at the top of its game. Krauss’s warm, feathery vocals, capable of conveying complex emotions in a single note, appear more full-bodied than in studio recordings, yet lose none of their sensual appeal or dramatic tension. She’s perfect, for example, as the melancho…

Big River: The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn (1985 Original Broadway Cast)

$6.39

This unjustly forgotten masterpiece was in many ways the last great creative gasp for the late, great country songwriter-singer Roger Miller, who died in 1992. After he wrote countless country gems like “Invitation to the Blues,” “King of the Road,” and “Dang Me” during the 1950s and ’60s, Miller’s creative muse ran dry in the early 1970s. The drought continued until he made a remarkable comeback …

A Tribute To Joni Mitchell

A Tribute To Joni Mitchell

$5.74

Tribute records live or die by the performers’ ability to interpret the subject’s work in new and inventive frameworks, or by how well they evoke the spirit of the original recordings. Joni Mitchell’s poetic folk and jazz offers infinite possibilities for the former, which makes the notion of this collection by indie rockers, pop divas, and country and folk practitioners most appealing. Not surpri…

A doomed Macaulay Culkin becomes the object of affection for a little girl (Anna Chlumsky), estranged from her widowed father (Dan Aykroyd). This somewhat daring premise has various emotional buffers to keep young viewers from going into shock from Culkin’s demise, but the film is also not shut off from real feelings. And while the story remains safely predictable, at the end of the day it is stil…

Alicia Silverstone won everyone over with her portrayal of a Beverly Hills teen, Cher, whose penchant for helping others with their relationships and self-esteem is a cover for her own loneliness. Director Amy Heckerling (Fast Times at Ridgemont High) made a smart, funny variation on Jane Austen’s novel Emma, sweetly romantic and gently satirical of 90210 social manners. The cast is unbeatable: Da…

Who is your favorite NFL player?

One on your favorite team and one not on your favorite team and why. Must be in the NFL right now and for the 2009 season.

Philip Rivers-He brings it to every game and leaves everything he has out on the field, you can be sure that he played his hardest in every game he plays in.

Dan Orlavsky-I only say this because he had an entertaining game versus the Vikings. I’ts funnier because it was a 10-12 game and it could have gone into overtime.

My Favorite Team Player- Chad Henne
Non Favorite Team Player- LT (had an injury, played threw it but people think he isn’t that good)
