Drape surgery -Good idea or Bad idea?
I have to decorate 4 standard windows in my Living Room and dining room combo and wanted to know if it would be tacky to cut one 84” panel straight up to create “two panels” for a touch of color next to my cream colored sheers. The panels that I like are $39.99 a panel (a heavy cotton material with a silk appearance/machine washable). I though I would cut down on expense this way. Am I setting myself up for problems with fraying not to mention tackiness?
I don’t own a sewing machine. Would I have to hem the sides by hand?
I am not sure about the tackiness issue, but if you do cut the fabric, finish off the raw edges with a double folded “hem” to prevent fraying. If you are talking about hanging one on each side of your sheers, it might be very attractive and not only add color but some texture as well.
