Is it OK to wash 100% cotton fabric even if the care suggestion is to dry clean?
I want to make an apron for my mother for Christmas but I don’t want to use a light weight calico cotton. So I’ve been looking at 100% cotton drapery fabrics (cotton ducks are so boring) but they all say “dry clean only”. I’m going nuts. I want cute fabric that’s easy to care for but wont wrinkle easily. I would love either suggestions or an OK to wash all these dry clean only drapery fabrics I’ve found. I figure – if they’re 100% cotton they should be OK to wash in the machine…. Right?? Thanks so much!!
I think it is okay to wash it on the delicate cycle. Some of the newer washing machines have a “dry clean cycle”! Just don’t put it in the dryer or you will have made the apron for a little mouse!
Maybe call a fabric store or dry cleaning business and ask them if it would be okay.———Just don’t put it in the dryer! Let it air dry!
I wash fabrics all the time in my washer and dryer that says “dry clean only.”
