Can someody tell me whether Dupioni silk is made without causing any harm to silk worms?
My friensd wants to make fabric bags using Dupioni silk from India and wants to make sure that the process does not cause harm to silkm worm. Does anyone have alternate fabric ideas?
now i don’t know about india, but in china, the worms die.
the process of taking the silk strand kills the worm.
keep in mind, at the point of collecting the silk, the worm is undergoing metamorphesis, and is no longer a worm, but is not yet a moth (or butterfly).
they must take the silk at this point.
any earlier in the life cycle, and the silk has not been spun.
any later, and the moth will have eaten it’s way out, making the silk useless.
get over it, it’s an insect.
i also note that there are quite a number of folks who answer nicely who obviously haven’t a clue what’s happening.
