What makes my computer lag?
I use my computer to run 3 separate embroidery machines so I have design software like CorelDRAW, DRAWings, and HAPPYLink. Sometimes when I select certain fonts, my computer’s “hourglass” comes up and it can take up to 30 seconds to select the font. The computer has 4GB of RAM and a decent dual-core processor. Would it have anything to do with the video card? It got the lowest Windows Experience rating with 3.0 out of 5.9.
It may have to do with the number of application/processes running. Check cpu usage in Task Manager. If high or close to 100%, cpu is busy that is why it lags when you introduce additional commands (like selecting a font). For heavy multitasking, a quad core would be better and the newer core i7 with Hyperthreading would be awesome (works like a virtual 8-core processor).
