What Can I Use to Clean Faux Suede Boots?
I have a pair of Black Faux suede boots that I love, but all the salt we use here in Canada has stained them terribly and it’s really visible since they’re black. What can I use to clean them? Obviously i’ve tried hot water, but that doesn’t remove the salt. Is there anything other than the cleaners they sell in shoe stores?
Use mild detergent/water and scrub with a brush…rinse lightly and dry…should bring them back fine. You are probably dealing with Calcium Chloride…mix about 1 cup vinegar in 1 quart of water before scrubing…that should disolve the white stains that build up. Repeat if necessary, you will not hurt the boots. Just don’t soak them through and through. If the first try didn’t get all of it, let dry, then repeat the vinegar trick. (White vinegar!)
