Will the Brazilian Grand Prix be the worlds biggest ever televised motorsports event?
I reckon the Brazilian GP will be the most watched sporting event in the world this year. The drama that has been around F1 this year has been nothing short of incredible and F1 is all over the newspapers like it was before the Schumacher domination began. Everyone i know, including people who hated F1 in the past have been talking about it. 3 drivers going for the title and the race will be on at a primetime slot for Europe and South America and even for parts of Asia it will stll be a good time.
Last year, for Michaels last race, there were 154 million viewers but i can easily see that number being doubled or more this year.
Well i cant really think of anything that would be bigger. NASCAR doesnt come close, Indy 500 hasnt been big for years and even when it was it was mainly an american thing and tv coverage probably wasnt as widespread. Maybe the 89, 90 finales with prost and Senna were as big. Senna was a god in brazil and south america after all
it’s bound to draw world wide audiences. i for one have 3 TVs ready in case one blows up lol. I’ve taken the night off work as i don’t want to wait until after midnight to watch it. i work in a kebab shop and we get loads of customers in after the pubs kick out. just lately the conversations have been more about F1 and Lewis than footie and the rugby. I really do think it will draw the biggest TV audience. it will be interesting to know the figures.
