How can I keep my Floral Curtains from making my Living Room look like a little old lady’s?
I have some Laura Ashley curtains that I got new for super cheap at a sale. They are cream background with red and pink and blue flowers and green and beige leaves. They are probably 75% cream.
I thought they were Shabby Chic when I bought them, and I painted my living room a soft mossy green to match them. The couch matches the beige in the curtains too. Now what? I need some things to hang on the wall, but am more attracted to edgy art that clashes with the room and everything I look at that “matches” the curtains looks old lady-ish to me.
Do I need to just dump the curtains? I really like them and don’t want to 
Keep the curtains if you like them. The room sounds very nice so far. And I understand your concern over the “too old lady” looking.
You mentioned you are looking for art and you like edgy.
I would say, find some edgy art that has some or all of the same colors that the room already has…red, blue, pink, blue, greens, etc.
Find some throw pillows that have an “edgy print” in some of the same colors.
Then, maybe throw another unexpected item into the room like a zebra rug (cream & black/brown) in front of the sofa for instance. Doesn’t have to be a zebra rug necessarily but some other item that makes the room look like a collection of styles you like and not just the shabby chic.

These are just ideas that might help you with adding other colors, patterns and styles to what you already have and like.
Keep the shabby chic and work from there.
