What do you do backstage?
I’m stage manager at a kids show, and I’m trying to come up with things for the kids to do that are quiet backstage.
Our backstage is right next to the stage (we aren’t in a “real” theatre, it’s more like a movie theatre with a platform, then we put up pipe and drape to hide the cast, props, crew, etc.), so for obvious reasons, it has to be quiet and not too involved (the space is pretty tiny.)
I’ve suggested gameboys, ipods, books, magazines, homework, card games, etc. (gameboys with sound off, ipods quiet). if the gameboys are too light, there’s a solid part backstage the kids can go, but the sound echos… ugh.
