Does anyone have 108 inch windows? What curtains?
We moved this past fall into a great house, and one thing I totally love is the high ceilings. But I wasn’t counting on spending $40 a panel on curtains! My windows, rod to floor, are 108 inches. I have A LOT of windows and I want longer curtains on them. Right now I have some swag valances that I like, but I am really wanting the dramatic look of the longer panels. I like sheer since I have white, custom wood slat blinds…I want to be able to enjoy those still. Anyone have huge windows? Where do you buy your curtains? Can you make them cheaper? I have about 8 windows to cover and they each need 2 panels…so I need a lot.
Go to JoAnn fabric and look for the sale sheer fabric. You can make some amazing custom sheers with stitch witchery and an iron. Measure your windows and allow at least 12″ per panel for nice hems. (6″ on top and bottom, folded over allows for a nice 3″ hem. or 4″ on bottom 2″ on top hem) I have made curtains, sheers etc that are custom to my window size for a fraction of the cost at JC Penney or even KMart and the fabric is better. Down side is stitch witchery cannot always be washed, but if you want sew them, if they require washing. Good luck. The people at JoAnn fabric are great about helping you figure out how much fabric you may need.
