What is the navy GSM rating experience like? (From someone who currently or previously had this job before)?
My fiance is in the process of joining the navy. He has already took his AFQT & is just waiting 2 take his ASVAB & MEPS. His recruiter recommended him 2 become a GSM technician & we want someone who is familiar w/ this job 2 answer back PLEASE!!!!!!!! What is this job like & how long does a deployment usually take?
Also, he has completed Universal Technical Institute (UTI) school in Chicago so the recruiter just said it was a good career choice 2 follow

TECH NOTES: Your husband’s AFQT score came from his ASVAB, will not need to do the test again if he is happy with his score. MEPS is the processing center, his last stop before arriving at boot camp.
A “normal” deployment is for six months but he will have have training in a school setting prior to that.
GSM experience does lead to decent jobs in the civilian world, had a buddy who got out and started at 65K$ as a supervisor for offshore oil platforms. He will also have the opportunity to followup his UTI training with free college using tuition assistance program.
