How do I wash a velvet skirt?
I bought it at a vintage shop (so i want to wash it before i wear it) and it doesn’t have a little care-of tag. It’s velvet and has some stretch to it. Can I wash it in the washing machine and can I dry it in the dryer?
Proceed with care here…If it was Cotton Velvet you could wash it – and possibly dry it safely (tho only on a low heat setting for drying). It sounds like it might be polyester velvet – and that may or may not be washable. The fact that it has a bit of stretch makes me think it likely is poly-velvet. Try hand washing in cold water, then put it through the spin cycle only in the washign machine. Hang dry…if you are feeling adventerous and can live with it if it shrinks or gets damaged you could try drying it on a low setting in the dryer. … Good luck.
